While we shouldn't hate ourselves, we also shouldn't grow comfortable with sin in our lives. We should hate sin in our lives, for God can't stand it. I don't like myself when I hate a brother in Christ who I severly disagree with in certain life issues. I just don't like being that guy; the one whose love for enemies falls WAY short of the prescribed one from the Sermon on the Mount.

So my prayer is that the Lord would transform me more and more into the image of His Son, for sometimes I'm not to fond of this version of myself.

I hear ya on that one! It seems the Lord has put my sanctification process in overdrive this year, and it's somewhat overwhelming in a sense. I like it because I know it's good for me, but it hurts to see what He's raised to the surface. Ephesians 6:12 has become like a broken record in my mind lately. :-)
yes, the process ebbs and flows like the tide. Some years are definitely harder than others. But the beauty of it is that the years where sanctification is in overdrive are also the years we see the hand of God the most in our lives.
Phred, I tagged you on my blog...

Hi Fred,
I found this blog at Neil's site, or the book. You might look into it for our students next year..

A good and worthwhile prayer indeed.
